Christmas Cookie Bake 2011

Baking Date: December 17, 2011

These are photos from my 2011 annual Christmas cookie bake with family and friends.  Each person brings a batch of baked cookies.  We then split them up to share so everyone can take some home.  During the gathering, we bake my grandmother’s ginger snap cookie recipe – which you’ll find at the end of this post.  I make cut out shortbread and sugar cookies the night before, so kids and a few of the adults can decorate them.  The cut out cookies include shortbread, because we have one uncle with an egg allergy.  Shortbread is the only cookie he can eat.

I made icing in a number of colors.  Decorations included all sorts of sugar sprinkles and sugar shapes from Wilton, sparkling gel icing in many colors and M&Ms.

Once the cookies are decorated, we lay them out on fold up tables set up in the family room.  Here is a selection of the 2011 masterpieces.
