My youngest son’s football team played in their “Bowl” game on Saturday. I prepared cupcakes for each boy on the team, as well as the coaches. (Full disclosure — I forgot about the cheerleaders — EEK!). The team name is Lions:
The team’s colors are royal blue and gold. I made devils food cupcakes and covered them with vanilla icing, dyed royal blue. I made yellow star-shaped candy melts (they are flat – a lollipop mold I found 2 years ago, but I’m not sure who makes it). I piped on an “L” (for Lions) in blue sparkle gel frosting. I placed the stars on top of the royal blue icing. I find that the blue candy melts with yellow sparkle gel frosting do not “pop” as much. Additional Note: The Wilton star mold is 3-D, so writing on the stars may not work.
I gave out the cupcakes at the end of the game, which our boys won 25-13. Way to go Lions!
Note: I always plan for a kid who may have egg or other allergies. I make sure I have a few packs of Skittles, Starbursts, Twizzlers or Smarties to give to kids who have an allergy, so they also receive a treat.
