New Years Eve – Cupcakes for Everyone!

Baking Date: December 31, 2012

Our friends the Henigins have an annual New Year’s Eve party.  The party always includes an invite for the kids, so no babysitter required. Score!

This year I made Mimosa cupcakes for the adults, and plain butter cupcakes for the kids. The Mimosa cupcake recipe is an easy one.  The alcohol most likely burns off baking the cupcake, but there is also champagne in the frosting, so this is definitely an adult cupcake.

I piped the frosting on with a #18 Wilton star tip. I added gold sugar sprinkles on top, in addition to the orange sugar sprinkles.  For a non-alcoholic version, substitute ginger ale for the champagne.

The butter cupcakes for the kids had vanilla frosting.  I used a variety of sugar sprinkles and jimmies to decorate the cupcakes.

Happy New Year, everyone!
